In response to the recent expansion of the Ayushman Bharat scheme, over 200,000 elderly

individuals have enrolled in the program within just one week of its rollout. This remarkable

uptake underscores the growing need for affordable healthcare solutions tailored to India's

senior population. The expansion broadens eligibility criteria and introduces benefits specifically

aimed at the elderly, as part of a government effort to make healthcare accessible to everyone,

especially the vulnerable and underserved.

Officials and healthcare experts have praised the rapid enrollment figures, highlighting the program’s

increasing trust and the evident demand for healthcare services among the elderly. The addition of

senior-focused facilities, such as extended coverage for age-related ailments, provisions for geriatric

care, and easier access to medications, has significantly attracted new participants.

Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya expressed optimism, stating that the elderly-focused expansion

of Ayushman Bharat is expected to provide high-quality healthcare that is both accessible and

affordable for millions of seniors who previously lacked such support.
