In a sudden burst of violence along the Line of Control, terrorists ambushed an Indian Army patrol vehicle in the dense forests of Rajouri's Nowshera sector earlier today. The attack, which occurred near the Kandi area in the afternoon, sent shockwaves through the peaceful mountainous region as the sound of automatic gunfire and explosions echoed across the valleys.  

Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos as soldiers immediately took defensive positions and returned fire in a fierce exchange that lasted nearly half an hour. "We heard multiple explosions first, followed by continuous gunfire that made our windows rattle," said local shopkeeper Mohammad Aslam, who was serving customers when the attack began. "Within minutes, we saw army reinforcements rushing toward the area with their weapons ready."  

Defense officials confirmed that despite the surprise nature of the assault, the quick-thinking soldiers managed to prevent any fatalities in their unit. Two personnel sustained minor injuries from grenade shrapnel and were promptly evacuated to the Army's base hospital in Rajouri, where doctors report they are in stable condition.  

The attack marks a worrying escalation in the Rajouri-Poonch sector, which had seen relative calm in recent years. Security forces have launched an intensive search operation, deploying drones, sniffer dogs, and additional troops to comb the thick forests where the terrorists are believed to be hiding. Local residents have been advised to remain vigilant as the area remains on high alert.  

This incident represents the third such attack in the region this month, raising concerns among security experts about a possible new infiltration push before winter sets in. The Indian Army has reinforced its presence along vulnerable sectors, determined to prevent any further breaches of the hard-won peace in the region.  

As night falls over the rugged terrain, the search for the attackers continues, with soldiers maintaining a tight cordon around suspected hiding spots. The bravery shown by the ambushed unit today serves as yet another reminder of the constant dangers faced by those guarding the nation's frontiers.
