Modi, U.S. Senator Vance Discuss Clean Energy and Nuclear Tech Cooperation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and U.S. Senator J.D. Vance held talks today on strengthening India-U.S. collaboration in clean energy and nuclear technology. The discussions focused on supporting India's renewable energy goals and potential partnerships in next-gen nuclear solutions.  

Senator Vance, a member of the Senate Energy Committee, emphasized how combining U.S. technology with India's scale could accelerate global energy transition. The meeting explored cooperation in areas like small modular reactors and grid modernization to help India meet its 500 GW renewable target by 2030.  

The dialogue comes as India seeks advanced solutions for its net-zero emissions roadmap. While welcoming the partnership, environmental groups stress the need for stringent safety measures in nuclear technology transfers.  

This high-level engagement signals growing momentum in clean energy ties between the two democracies, with potential to shape global climate efforts. Follow-up technical discussions between energy departments are expected soon.
