‘Obsessed with jacuzzi…’: PM Modi delivers a sharp attack on Kejriwal and Rahul Gandhi in Lok Sabha

"Obsessed with Jacuzzis and Luxury": PM Modi's Fiery Lok Sabha Speech Targets Kejriwal and Rahul Gandhi

The Lok Sabha witnessed high-voltage political drama on Wednesday as Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on opposition leaders Arvind Kejriwal and Rahul Gandhi, accusing them of being "obsessed with jacuzzis and luxury" while ignoring the struggles of common Indians.

In his spirited reply during the debate on the President's address, PM Modi's sharp remarks drew both cheers from treasury benches and protests from the opposition. "While our government is working to provide 'har ghar jal' (water to every household), some leaders are more concerned about their jacuzzis," the Prime Minister said, in an apparent dig at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

The reference appeared to allude to recent controversies surrounding Kejriwal's official residence renovations. PM Modi didn't stop there, turning his attention to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi: "When farmers were struggling during the pandemic, one 'shehzada' (prince) was enjoying foreign vacations. Their idea of poverty alleviation is probably deciding which five-star hotel to stay in next."

The remarks sparked immediate uproar, with opposition members shouting protests and some even staging a walkout. Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury called the comments "below the dignity of the Prime Minister's office," while AAP's Sanjay Singh countered, "Modi ji should talk about inflation, unemployment instead of bathrooms."

Political analysts note this speech marks a shift in Modi's parliamentary strategy. "The PM is clearly adopting a more aggressive, personalized approach against opposition leaders as we move closer to state elections," said Dr. Shekhar Gupta, political commentator. "The jacuzzi remark in particular seems designed to reinforce the anti-corruption image against Kejriwal."

Interestingly, the speech also contained emotional moments when PM Modi spoke about his own humble background: "I've lived in poverty. I know what it means to queue up for water. That's why every scheme of my government is about dignity for the poor, not luxuries for the privileged few."

As the dust settles, political circles are abuzz about whether this marks the beginning of a more combative phase in parliament. With crucial state elections looming, the battle lines appear to be drawn sharper than ever between the ruling party and opposition.
