Mere Husband Ki Biwi Review: With support from Jackie and Rakul, Arjun takes aim confidently, while Bhumi and Harsh emerge as the film’s weaker links

"Mere Husband Ki Biwi" Delivers Laughs and Drama With Uneven Results

The new Bollywood comedy-drama Mere Husband Ki Biwi offers an entertaining yet inconsistent take on modern relationships, anchored by strong performances from its lead cast but hampered by uneven storytelling. Arjun Kapoor shines as a conflicted husband caught between his current wife (Rakul Preet Singh) and his ex (Bhumi Pednekar), delivering one of his most natural performances to date. His comic timing and chemistry with Singh, who steals scenes as the sharp but vulnerable wife, provide the film's strongest moments.

While the first half breezes along with witty dialogue and relatable marital mishaps, the film struggles to maintain its momentum. Pednekar and Harshvardhan Rane feel underutilized in underwritten supporting roles, their subplot failing to generate the intended emotional weight. The film's saving grace comes in the form of Jackie Shroff's hilarious cameo, his deadpan delivery sparking some of the biggest laughs.

Director Amit Sharma keeps the pacing brisk but can't quite balance the tonal shifts between comedy and drama. The screenplay, while offering some fresh takes on relationship dynamics, eventually falls back on predictable tropes in the second half. Still, the lead performances and several genuinely funny sequences make this an enjoyable, if flawed, watch for fans of romantic comedies.

Mere Husband Ki Biwi works best when it leans into its strengths – Kapoor and Singh's sparkling chemistry and the film's willingness to poke fun at marital expectations. While it doesn't quite stick the landing, there's enough charm here to make it worth a watch for those looking for light entertainment with some heart.
