Allu Arjun’s highly anticipated action drama Pushpa 2: The Rule has been the talk of the town since its release, breaking records and setting new benchmarks at the box office. However, as the film completes 58 days in theaters, questions are being raised about whether the blockbuster is finally losing its momentum.  

Since its release in early August, Pushpa 2 has been a juggernaut, raking in massive numbers both domestically and internationally. The film, a sequel to the 2021 hit Pushpa: The Rise, has been praised for its gripping storyline, high-octane action sequences, and Allu Arjun’s electrifying performance as Pushpa Raj.  

According to trade analysts, Pushpa 2 crossed the ₹1,000 crore mark worldwide within its first month, making it one of the highest-grossing Indian films of 2023. However, as the film entered its 8th week, collections have shown a noticeable decline. On Day 58, the film reportedly earned around ₹1.5 crore domestically, a significant drop from its earlier daily earnings.  

“It’s natural for any film to see a dip in collections after 7-8 weeks, especially with new releases drawing audiences’ attention,” said trade expert Rajesh Kumar. “Pushpa 2 has had an incredible run, but the buzz has started to fade as other big-ticket movies hit the screens.”  

The release of several new films, including major Bollywood and regional projects, has divided audience interest. Additionally, the availability of Pushpa 2 on OTT platforms, which began streaming last week, has further impacted its theatrical performance.  

Despite the slowdown, fans of Allu Arjun and the Pushpa franchise remain enthusiastic. Social media is abuzz with praise for the film, with many calling it a “cultural phenomenon.” “Pushpa Raj is not just a character; he’s an emotion. The film has left a lasting impact, and Allu Arjun’s performance is unforgettable,” tweeted one fan.  

Director Sukumar’s gritty storytelling and the film’s chart-topping music, composed by Devi Sri Prasad, have also been credited for its success. The iconic “Saami Saami” and “Oo Antava” tracks continue to dominate playlists, keeping the film alive in popular culture.  

While Pushpa 2 may be nearing the end of its theatrical run, its legacy is far from over. The film has not only cemented Allu Arjun’s status as a pan-India superstar but has also set the stage for potential future installments in the franchise.
