Mamta Kulkarni, after taking sanyas at Maha Kumbh, says she "cannot envision returning to films"

Mamta Kulkarni Embraces Spiritual Path at Maha Kumbh, Declares She “Cannot Envision Returning to Films”

Former Bollywood actress Mamta Kulkarni, once a reigning star of the 1990s, has officially bid farewell to her glamorous past, embracing a life of spirituality at the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj. The actress, who took sanyas (renunciation) during the holy gathering, has declared that she “cannot envision returning to films” and is now fully committed to her spiritual journey.

Mamta, known for her iconic roles in films like *Karan Arjun* and *Sabse Bada Khiladi*, surprised fans and the film fraternity with her decision to renounce worldly life. Dressed in simple white attire, with her head shaved and a calm demeanor, she addressed a small gathering of devotees and media personnel at the Kumbh Mela.

“I have found a peace and purpose that I never knew before. The glitz and glamour of films no longer hold any meaning for me. My heart is now devoted to serving God and humanity,” Mamta said, her voice filled with serenity.

Her transformation comes after years of staying away from the public eye. Following her exit from Bollywood in the late 1990s, Mamta’s life took unexpected turns, including her involvement in a high-profile drug case in Kenya, which she has consistently denied. Her decision to take sanyas marks a new chapter, one that she describes as “liberating.”

“I have left behind all the attachments of my past life. This is not a decision I took lightly, but it is one that brings me immense joy and fulfillment,” she added.

Fans and colleagues from the film industry have expressed mixed reactions to her announcement. While some have praised her courage to follow her spiritual calling, others have expressed sadness at the thought of never seeing her on the silver screen again. “Mamta was a true star of her time. It’s bittersweet to see her choose this path, but I respect her decision,” said filmmaker David Dhawan, who worked with her in Raja Babu.

Spiritual leaders at the Maha Kumbh have welcomed Mamta into their fold, emphasizing that her journey is a testament to the transformative power of faith. “Sanyas is not an escape; it is a profound commitment to a higher purpose. Mamta’s decision is inspiring,” said Swami Gyananand, a prominent seer at the Kumbh Mela.

As Mamta Kulkarni steps into this new phase of her life, her story serves as a reminder of the diverse paths one can take in the pursuit of inner peace. While her cinematic legacy will forever remain a part of Bollywood history, her spiritual journey is now the focus of her life’s narrative.
