India Strongly Condemns Pakistan’s Airstrikes in Afghanistan, Calls for Protection of Civilians

India has issued a sharp condemnation of Pakistan’s recent airstrikes in Afghanistan’s Paktika province, which tragically claimed the lives of dozens of civilians, including women and children. The strikes, reportedly aimed at targeting Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants, resulted in significant civilian casualties, triggering widespread outrage and international criticism.

In a statement, India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) expressed deep concern over the attacks, emphasizing the need to protect innocent lives. "Such actions are unacceptable and violate basic principles of humanity and international law. Pakistan must take responsibility for its internal challenges without resorting to measures that endanger the lives of civilians across borders," the MEA said.

The airstrikes, which occurred on December 24, reportedly targeted areas in the Barmal district of Paktika province. Afghan officials revealed that 46 people were killed in the bombings, with many others injured. Eyewitnesses described the horrifying aftermath, with women and children among the victims. The Taliban administration, currently governing Afghanistan, condemned the strikes as a blatant violation of the country’s sovereignty and called on Pakistan to halt its cross-border operations.

India’s reaction to the incident aligns with its broader call for regional peace and stability. By highlighting the human cost of such actions, New Delhi underscored the importance of addressing security concerns through dialogue and cooperation rather than violence.

This incident has further strained relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan, with the Taliban administration accusing Pakistan of violating international norms. Meanwhile, humanitarian organizations and activists have urged all parties involved to prioritize civilian safety and adhere to international humanitarian laws.

India’s statement reinforces its stance as a regional advocate for peace, emphasizing the need for accountability and restraint in conflict zones to prevent such tragedies from recurring.
