Security Guard Arrested for Alleged Attempted Rape of MBBS Student at AIIMS Gorakhpur

A security guard at AIIMS Gorakhpur was arrested for allegedly attempting to rape an MBBS student on the hospital campus. The incident took place on December 27, 2024, when the victim, a second-year MBBS student, was reportedly attacked by the guard while returning to her hostel.

According to the police, the student managed to escape after resisting the guard's advances and immediately alerted authorities. The accused, identified as Ramesh Kumar (30), was quickly apprehended by the police based on the student’s complaint and surveillance footage from the area.

The police have charged the guard with attempted rape, harassment, and intimidation, and he is currently in custody awaiting further investigation. The medical college administration has condemned the incident and assured that strict action will be taken. AIIMS Gorakhpur also pledged support to the victim, providing her with counseling and ensuring her safety on campus.
