BJP MLA and 16 others accused of rape and fraud in UP's Budaun

FIR has been registered against BJP MLA Harish Shakya from Bilsi constituency and 16 others

In a serious legal turn of events in Uttar Pradesh’s Budaun district, BJP MLA Harish Shakya from the Bilsi constituency, along with 16 others, has been accused of multiple charges, including gang rape, land fraud, and intimidation. The allegations were brought forth by a local resident, marking a major political controversy in the region.

The complainant alleges that Shakya, his brother, nephew, and several close associates forced his family to sell a valuable piece of land at a heavily undervalued rate. When the family resisted, they were reportedly subjected to fabricated legal cases and threats. Adding to the gravity of the complaint, the MLA and two of his aides were accused of gang-raping the villager’s wife at the legislator’s office on September 17.

The case gained momentum after an order from the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate and Special Judge of the MP/MLA court, Leelu Chaudhary, directed the registration of an FIR. Following the court's directive, the Civil Lines police station in Budaun registered the case on December 16. Senior Superintendent of Police Brijesh Kumar Singh confirmed the development and assigned Inspector Manoj Kumar Singh to spearhead the investigation.

Despite repeated attempts to seek a statement, MLA Harish Shakya has remained unavailable for comments. The accusations have sent shockwaves across the political spectrum, highlighting the gravity of power misuse and abuse.

As investigations proceed, this case underscores the broader issues of accountability and justice, particularly when serious allegations involve public representatives. Authorities are expected to handle the matter with due diligence as the legal process unfolds.
