Allu Arjun Remanded to 14-Day Judicial Custody Over Pushpa 2 Stampede Tragedy

In a shocking turn of events, celebrated Telugu actor Allu Arjun has been remanded to 14 days of judicial custody in connection with a tragic stampede during the grand premiere of his much-anticipated film Pushpa 2: The Rule in Hyderabad. The incident, which occurred on December 4, 2024, at Sandhya Theatre, claimed the life of 35-year-old Revathi and left her young son critically injured.

The stampede unfolded as thousands of fans gathered at the theater to catch a glimpse of the superstar during his surprise visit. The crowd reportedly grew uncontrollable due to insufficient security arrangements and poor crowd management, resulting in the tragic loss of life.

The Hyderabad police registered an FIR against Arjun, along with his security team and the theater management, under charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder. The FIR alleges negligence, citing the lack of adequate planning and coordination for the actor’s appearance, which contributed to the overcrowding.

Following his arrest, Allu Arjun was presented before a local magistrate, who ordered his judicial custody for 14 days. The court emphasized the need for a thorough investigation to determine accountability for the incident, which has sparked widespread debate about safety measures at large-scale public events.

The actor’s legal team has filed a petition with the Telangana High Court, seeking to quash the FIR. They argue that Arjun had obtained all necessary permissions to attend the event and that he should not be held personally responsible for the unforeseen tragedy.

Meanwhile, Allu Arjun has expressed deep sorrow over the incident, offering his condolences to the victim's family. He has announced financial assistance of ₹25 lakh to support the bereaved family and pledged to cover the medical expenses of the injured child.

This high-profile case has raised questions about the responsibilities of celebrities, event organizers, and authorities in ensuring public safety during high-attendance events. As investigations continue, the spotlight remains on measures to prevent such tragedies in the future.

The Telangana High Court is expected to hear Arjun’s petition later this week, which could determine the course of this unfolding legal battle.
