elephants during traditional festivals. This ruling, motivated by concerns over animal cruelty and public safety, has ignited a heated debate,
especially among organizers of Pooram festivals, who see it as a threat to the cultural heritage of the state.

The court's decision comes after numerous reports highlighted the mishandling and overexploitation of elephants during festivals, where
these majestic animals are paraded amidst loud noises, fireworks, and large crowds. Emphasizing the stress and injuries that elephants often
suffer, the court has recommended measures that include limiting the number of festivals featuring elephant participation, requiring mandatory

member of a prominent festival committee.

Conversely, animal rights activists have welcomed the court's decision as a progressive step toward humane treatment. “For years, these animals
have endured harsh conditions in the name of tradition. It’s time we prioritize their well-being,” remarked a spokesperson from a leading wildlife
advocacy group.
