Construction activities halted as GRAP III measures are enforced across Delhi-NCR

Due to the severe air pollution levels affecting Delhi-NCR, authorities have implemented Stage III measures

of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) to protect public health. As a result, junior schools across the

region are temporarily closed, and all non-essential construction activities are suspended to reduce dust and

vehicle emissions contributing to the crisis.

The Air Quality Index (AQI) has exceeded hazardous levels in many areas, prompting authorities to urge citizens

to limit outdoor activities, particularly for children and individuals with respiratory issues. Public health warnings

are being broadcast, and additional measures, such as water sprinkling and mechanized road sweeping, are being

implemented to mitigate dust.

The decision to close schools and halt construction activities was made after prolonged exposure to high levels of

pollutants raised concerns about long-term health effects. Experts emphasize that immediate interventions are crucial,

as vulnerable groups, especially children, are at a greater risk. The Delhi government, along with the Commission for

Air Quality Management (CAQM), is also monitoring conditions daily and assessing whether to escalate restrictions if

pollution levels continue to be high.
